Offering Games
While we make every attempt to get everyone into a game, Conception needs attendees to offer to run games to make that happen. This can be a scenario of your own making (with a published or home-made system as you prefer) or one of the scenarios that is available in our tabletop scenario database. Conception is becoming increasingly popular and, as such, needs more GMs each year. If you’d like to be one of those GMs offering up to 400 tables worth of games over the convention then please contact the appropriate committee member to arrange it:
Tabletop: John Amos
Living: Paul James
LARP: Julian Hayley
Playing Games
Each game that is offered has its own sign-up sheet. These sheets are put up on the walls around the main Reception area around 24 hours before the game is due to start. Have a look at the sheets (with a pen or pencil in hand) and write your name down in the appropriate sign-up area on the sheet (this is normally at the bottom but some GMs create their own sign-up sheets which have the information in different places) on any game that takes your fancy. There is some etiquette to this though.
- Do put your name in an empty space.
- Don’t cross out someone else’s name in a bid to get off any reserves list.
- Do write neatly – it makes it easier when mustering (see below) occurs.
- Don’t write your name above a crossed out name. It will be ignored.
Ticket Prices
Each game is paid for with a ticket that can be bought from the Operations Desk. All income from tickets sold at Conception is donated to charity. Current prices are:
- Table-top RPG “Standard” slot: £3
- LARP games (4 Hour Slot): £3
Ticket Refunds: We will issue refunds on unused tickets only up to 2.30pm Sunday.
Mustering
Mustering is the process whereby players’ names are read out and they are allocated to their GM and table. Mustering is split into two distinct areas. Classic Games muster in the main reception area 5 minutes before the slot starts. Living Games muster in the bottom bar 15 minutes before the slot starts. Failure to be at muster (or to have made arrangements for someone to represent you if you will be a little late) could result in your place in a game being assigned to a reserve.
